Warning: Email misusing the name Joened Osman and Bournville Solicitors Ltd

An email has been sent which misuses the name of Joened Osman and Bournville Solicitors Ltd.
What is the scam?
The SRA has seen an email claiming to be from a genuine law firm that is no longer trading and is in the process of being closed down (see below). The email misuses the name of a genuine solicitor, a genuine firm and the address of that genuine firm (see below).
The email seen by the SRA, purports to relate to a conveyancing transaction for the purchase of a property. The sender of the email claims to act for the purchaser and requests the recipient to arrange for legal representation to produce a contract to progress with a swift exchange and completion.
The email has been sent from the email address 'joened.osman@Bournvillesolicitors.co.uk' and provides a telephone number of '0121 285 2949'. The email address and telephone number are understood to be false.
Any business or transaction through the above email address and contact details is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates Bournville Solicitors Ltd however it ceased trading on 15 November 2025 and is still regulated to provide services to existing clients The firm's genuine domain is '@Bournvillesolicitors.com'. Its head office is 37a Westley Road, Birmingham, West Midlands, B27 7UQ.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor named Joened Osman (SRA ID 564928). Joened Osman is no longer employed at Bournville Solicitors Ltd.
Joened Osman has confirmed that they do not have any connection to the above matter.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
