Warning: Letters misusing the name and details of DMH Stallard LLP and regulated individuals and firms

The SRA has been informed of letters sent to members of the public and a local authority misusing the name and address of DMH Stallard LLP, along with details of regulated individuals and firms.
What is the scam?
Fraudulent letters have been issued claiming to represent DMH Stallard LLP in connection with:
- Divorce proceedings which have been signed off by 'Sophie', purportedly a solicitor at DMH Stallard LLP. The letter also references the SRA number 8006490 (see below).
- Housing and Children's Services Failures, supposedly signed off by Samantha Jago, falsely claiming DMH Stallard LLP will act against a local council. The letter also references the SRA number 337208 (see below).
Both letters use the firm name 'DMH Stallard' and DMH Stallard LLP interchangeably.
The letters also include the business address 1st Floor, Wonersh House, The Guildway, Old Portsmouth Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU3 1LR, England.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm called DMH Stallard LLP whose SRA ID is 490576 and has a branch office address of 1st Floor, Wonersh House, The Guildway, Old Portsmouth Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU3 1LR, England.
The SRA also authorises and regulates genuine firms of solicitors called Law by Sophie, the firms SRA number is 8006490.
The SRA authorises and regulates genuine solicitor called Samantha Jago, their SRA number is 337208.
The genuine solicitors and firms have confirmed they do not have any connection to the correspondence referred to above.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
