A stamped document has been sent to HSBC Bank, misusing the name of Peacock & Co Solicitors Limited, supposedly verifying a change of name deed.

What is the scam?

A stamped document has been sent to HSBC Bank, misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below), supposedly verifying a change of name deed.

The document seen by the SRA carries a bogus stamp that misuses the name and office address (see below for details of the genuine firm).

The stamp shows the address '94 High Street, Wimbledon, SW19 5EG' and uses a different format to the firm's genuine stamp.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Peacock & Co Solicitors Limited. The genuine firm of Peacock & Co Solicitors Limited is based at 94 High Street, Wimbledon Village, London, SW19 5EG.

The genuine firm Peacock & Co Solicitors Limited has confirmed that it has no connection to the matters in the above alert.

What should I do?
